Playdates should not only be meant for kids! Why not make plans which include fun for both your children as well as for yourself? Makes sense, right?
If you are looking for your next fun-filled weekend plans, you should definitely consider a cool camp night at Bosque del Niño!
Bosque del Niño is actually a natural reserve located in Grecia, about 1.5 hours away from the city of San Jose. Although it is not a popular place amongst locals, it truly is a magical spot to visit. The reserve is located just below the Poas Volcano, which makes it even more special due to the area’s unique flora and fauna. Although you may get here with a normal compact vehicle, a tall, 4x4 car is recommended.
Before becoming what it is today, Bosque de Niño used to be a cattle ranch. About 30 years ago, a project was put in place where over 30 thousand trees were planted by children; giving the name to this gorgeous reserve.
Regardless of your age, a sleepover at Bosque del Niño will give you that much needed combination of fun and relaxation that you deserve!
Grab your kids, and head down to the reserve early in the morning. Once you get here, you will have the whole day to explore before heading back to the camp ground to set up.
First, we recommend to visit the hiking trails as they are quite easy and will make a great adventure! You and your kids can choose between the tree trails: Las Carboneras (600m long), Los Pinos (800m long) and El Panoramico (1800m long).
Once you are tired from walking, you can head to the reserve’s delicious waterfall. Your kids will absolutely love to play and splash in the fresh water natural pool, while you can kick back and enjoy the view.
At Bosque del Niño, you can also find a playground, ranches with barbeques, cabins, bathrooms, and lots and lots of open green areas!
Once the day is done, you can head out to the camping area and set up. Although camp fires are not allowed within the reserve, you can always stay up late, have some hot chocolate and tell spooky stories!
Give your kids and yourself a fun and out-of-the-ordinary weekend by planning a fun camp night at Bosque del Niño!
