Cloudbridge Nature reserve is a private reserve situated in one of the most beautiful mountains surrounded by gorgeous cloud forest. Located near one of the most amazing UNESCO Heritage Sites, this awesome reserve will not only give you the chance to spend some great times with family, friends or even co-workers. But it will also educate you in the preservation of our habitats.
Its main objective when it comes to visitors, is teaching them how to help in the preservation and reforestation of the environment. Additionally Cloudbridge Nature Reserve also makes sure to educate visitors on how to protects the forest’s biodiversity in order to help maintain Costa Rica the beautiful that it is.
When Cloudbridge initially opened its doors to the public, its main concern was the reforestation of the forests and habitats in the area. A group of people teamed up and researched all about the native flora and fauna. The next steps were all about purchasing the trees, planting them and monitoring their progress and success. You can also be part of this wonderful project if you would like to volunteer for any future activities.
Part of the magic of visiting Cloudbridge is knowing how many trees you can help plan and then coming back to find wonderful habitats being re-grown. If you would like to adventure out and explore the area, you most definitely can! There are numerous trails that are open to the public and have different intensity levels.
The waterfall trail is the shortest and easiest trail as it is a 40 minute round-trip through a Memorial Garden. Here you will be able to see the Chirripo River and Pacifica Falls. If you choose to hike with a guide, you will get a full tour of the re-forestation project.
There are other trails such as Sendero Montana Loop, North Trails and Vulture Rock trail which are a bit more demanding but so worth it! If you choose to go on any of these hikes you will get to cross a suspension bridge, visit the Cloudbridge falls and even go through the forest and bump into some of the most marvelous animals such as the Quetzal, jaguars, tapirs and even spider monkeys!
This beautiful project of Cloudbridge Nature Reserve is located in San Gerardo de Rivas. You are welcome to visit anytime as long as you take a 4x4 vehicle. Take an awesome holiday while helping our environment - it can’t get any better than that!
